A comparative study of antimony accumulation in plants

Antimony occurs locally at high concentrations in some mineralized soils. Very little is known about behavior of antimony in plants. In this study, we analyzed the soil and vegetation of two mining areas in Iran, Patyar, and Moghanlo. Total Sb concentrations in soil were 358–3482 mg/kg in Moghanlo and 284–886 mg/kg in Patyar. Corresponding Sb Antimony toxicity and detoxification in plants. The excessive accumulation of Sb can be toxic to plants and can inhibit their growth. The levels of 5–10 mg kg −1 Sb in plant tissues have been suggested to be excessive or toxic (Kabata and Pendias, 2001). He (2007) reported that 5 mg kg −1 Sb was a tolerable concentration in The uptake and detoxification of antimony by plants: A review

The influence of association of plant growth-promoting

Antimony has been rarely determined in plants growing on uncontaminated soils, with the typical Sb values of well below 1 mg/kg for most plants growing on uncontaminated soils (Casado et al. 2007). However, Sb uptake and accumulation may vary widely among different plant species (Tschan et al. 2009 ).These results suggested that antimony was not essential to plant growth.
